Biology (Pre-Vet Track), State College of Florida

Yoselin is a student at the State College of Florida pursuing a major in biology in the pre-vet track. She is pursuing her second career. Starting in human medicine as a nurse for 6 years, she found a new calling in veterinary medicine after traveling to rural parts of the country and realizing the veterinary demand and her desire to devote to this path.

Beginning her new career chapter, she volunteers at various shelters, a horse rescue, and has been able to learn from veterinary nurses and doctors, including avian rehabbers. She continues to immerse herself in the veterinary field outside of school. By participating in the CURE project, Yoselin aspires to gain a better understanding and skills of the research process. She is learning all aspects and is currently exploring the role of a literature and article editor. Yoselin's career goals entail transferring to a 4-year university to complete her undergraduate studies while engaging in research. Then, apply to veterinary school to become a veterinarian and contribute to veterinary research as a practicing provider.
